General Public Transportation
Chatham Transit operates two fixed routes – the PX Route and the 64 Route – that provide regular weekday service between Siler City, Pittsboro and Chapel Hill. A passenger can go from Siler City to work at Chatham Crossing in Northeast Chatham or to a medical appointment in Chapel Hill, and know the schedule for pick up and return via the stops.
Chatham Transit also operates the In-County Service, which is a reservation service that provides curb-to-curb rides from any location in Chatham County to any location in Chatham County. More Information.
To make transportation available to more people, CTN strives to be as efficient as possible, but the demand for transportation is greater than the funds to support public ridership. The NCDOT Public Transportation Division provides some funding based on a formula allocation, but the amount Chatham Transit receives limits the amount of service that can be provided. Parameters of service have been established to use the funds in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
